  • Green St. Patrick’s Day

Our focus on the color green and St. Patrick’s Day combined to make a fun March!  The toddlers were immersed with green manipulatives, green play dough, green sensory bins, green snacks, and green crafts. After reading Little Blue and Little Yellow -we discovered that green is created from mixing blue and yellow. The leprechaun hid gold coins which the toddlers traded in for a rainbow snack.  We also created a green wand in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

  • Somewhere Over The Rainbow

From rainbows to pot’s of gold, the PM preschool class fully embraced the St. Patrick’s Day theme this past week!

We made our own rainbow snacks!

We went on a gold hunt and matched uppercase/ lowercase letters!

We participated in a letter identification and hand strength activity by feeding our “tennis ball people” gold coins and naming the letters on each coin. We love to incorporate multiple objectives into one lesson!

Another multiple objective lesson: counting and fine motor!

We played “roll, count and graph” using rainbow jelly beans!

    S is for skittles!

  • St. Patrick’s Day and Spring Bunnies

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations start out with a sensory bin of water beads, gold coins, and scoops.

We created leprechaun beards by painting with a fork.

We heard the leprechaun was running around Creative Tots.   The toddler class traveled to the studio to look for him and found gold coins!  We practiced finding and counting treasure.

We continued with our study of green by creating a “green tent” for our color book.

Moving into spring with a sensory bin filled with eggs, butterflies, bunnies, and flowers.  Some children practiced scooping while others sorted by color or type.  The older children began to make patterns (a pre-literacy and math skill).

    Matching Eggs…

Matching jelly beans.  Practice with one to one correspondence and color matching.  Also, an exercise in patience.  We had to match them all before we got to eat one as a treat.

Some fine motor skills are practiced when creating washi tape eggs.

Chalk eggs for our new easel.

    Gross motor practice….Feed the bunny.

    Painting feet for footprint bunnies.

  • St Patrick’s Day in Pre-K!

We found a pot that our leprechaun left behind in one of our St Patrick’s Day Small Groups!  Check out what we found inside!

Sorting and Counting Lucky Charms Marshmallows

Eating the Colors of the Rainbow!  We ate every color of the rainbow during snack time…even if we thought we “didn’t like it,” everyone tried one bite of each color.  Many of us learned that we like some new fruits today…AND never to be afraid of trying something new!  You may love it and be missing out!

  • Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
