  • Green St. Patrick’s Day

Our focus on the color green and St. Patrick’s Day combined to make a fun March!  The toddlers were immersed with green manipulatives, green play dough, green sensory bins, green snacks, and green crafts. After reading Little Blue and Little Yellow -we discovered that green is created from mixing blue and yellow. The leprechaun hid gold coins which the toddlers traded in for a rainbow snack.  We also created a green wand in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

  • Hello Yellow!

Each month the toddlers focus on one color.  September is Yellow!  We have read Hello Yellow and Little Bea, watched and sang along to Heidi’s Hello Yellow video, selected counted and named yellow items in the mystery can, had a yellow hunt in our classroom, played with yellow play-dough, tasted yellow lemons, and used half lemons as a stamper to make circle prints!  We will continue to explore yellow throughout the month.

  • Letter W, Garden, Purple Distance Learning

Thank you so much to all our Creative Tots families for working hard at home to help us to help your child learn and grow.  We appreciate all the pictures of your children using the packets, plans, and materials to distance teach!  It is obvious through the pictures that our toddlers are making the most of this time!

  • Green in March

The toddlers spent time doing lots of activities revolving around our color of the month:  GREEN

Green play dough, green crafts, green leprechauns, green shamrocks, green paint, green mystery can, etc.

  • Lemonade, Alligators, and Circles!

We have been focusing on the color yellow in the toddler room this month.  Our sensory tub is filled with fun items to “make lemonade”.  We are creating with yellow play dough and  yellow collage free art.

We created an alligator out of the letter A for our letter focus this week.  Add eyes and teeth….Chomp!

“A circle goes around and around”… is the song we sing as we make a circle collage.

  • Jumpin’ into January!

Along with our winter themed activities, we are learning about “responsibility”. To help teach this, the students each have a classroom job they are responsible for weekly! They have really taken ownership of these responsibilities. We are promoting independence and autonomy in the classroom!

Cutting icicles (we brought a real one in from outside to observe and touch)!

  • Hello Yellow!

Hello Yellow!  The color focus for the month of September is YELLOW.  We have used all of our senses to immerse ourselves in yellow.  We have read a book called Hello Yellow about a parade, we have watched videos and sang songs about the color yellow, sorted items by color, and our “lemonade” sensory tub is filled with all types of yellow items for pouring and scooping.  During small group, the mystery can was filled with all yellow items (banana, corn, yellow crayon, yellow car, yellow monkey, duck, etc.).  We also tasted yellow lemons and did lemon prints.  The children combined our letter study and color study by string painting a “B” to create a yellow bumble bee.  On Friday, we took turns measuring and pouring and made yellow play dough!  We will continue to focus and yellow in the classroom throughout the month.  You can reinforce at home by having your child find yellow items around the house and pointing out yellow things in their everyday lives.

  • Homemade Play Dough!

The Preschool Prep class worked together and made their own play dough! We dyed it yellow for our color of the month, and used it for our sensory table all week!

  • Cooking Up Some Snow Playdough

We made our very own batch of snow play dough today in small groups.  We measured and mixed the ingredients found on the recipe to create a wonderful bowl full of fun.  Our special ingredient was of course…glitter to make it sparkle like freshly fallen snow.
