  • All About Triangles

Our group time activity this week is all about triangles! During group time the boys and girls stood on a triangle that Ms. Laurel taped to the floor. Then, the children counted the sides of the triangle. After that, they had a chance to come up to the board and match a triangle. The boys and girls were very busy!

  • We are all alike….We are all different

During group time we are reading We are all alike…We are all different by the Cheltenham Elementary School Kindergartners. Today we talked about how we are all alike because we all have eyes but we are also different because are eyes are different colors. The children had a chance to come up to the board and put their name next to brown eyes, green eyes or blue eyes.

  • Arctic Animals

This month we are studying the color white . The toddlers enjoyed taking a trip to the arctic in their discovery tubs.  They found items such as ice blocks, igloos, polar bears, arctic foxes, caribous, seals, whales, and walruses.

  • Snow Inside!

We could not go outside to play…so we brought outside… inside! 🙂

  • We have reached week 3 of our school year!! Yay!! Today the children listened to a read aloud called “All About You.” We talked about where we live, what we wear, who we live with, what we eat, etc. The children are currently learning the color red and the letter “R.” During group time, I had a bin with various items, and the children had to identify which items were red. During small groups, we painted rainbows (for the letter “R”) for our ABC book we will be working on throughout the year. They also painted a muffin tin and printed it on paper for the art show in March. The children worked on our numbers for the month (number recognition 1-3). They also practiced one-to-one correspondence and fine motor skills with pipe cleaners and colanders. The playground has a new feature that the children absolutely LOVE: a sandbox!! Check out all of the fun photos from our day!

(Muffin Tin Art: Art Show Piece)

    (“R” is for Rainbow)

  • We had a fantastic start to our third week of school! In the toddler room we are learning the color red and the letter “R.” We are learning the ABC song and practicing sitting at group time. The children had fun working on their art show pieces: painting muffin tins and printing them on paper. A new addition to our playground is a huge sandbox!!! The children LOVE playing in it!! Check out all of our fun photos from our day!! 🙂

  • We had a great second day in the early 3’s class! We worked on lining up –and they are quickly learning how to do this! I’m so proud of them! We practiced listening for a “quiet signal” prompt and responding correctly. In small group time, one group of children painted on foil –a fun sensory art activity. Another group of children learned how to play at the kitchen center –knowing how to properly use the center will advance their dramatic play development. The other group learned how to use the learning activities in the Early 3’s center. One of the activities we focused on is a sorting colors and shapes activity.

I am excited to learn with your children and see what this year holds for us! 🙂
