The favorite part of our day…show and share! But how are the children benefiting from the experiences?
On Monday, we had fun trying out a new way of practicing name recognition! During one of our whole group times, the children each had a turn to take their little person and match it to their name. I would spell their names out loud as they matched their person with their name. Our letter for this week is “P”…so the children made “P” is for “Pasta.” They are continuing to work on their prewriting skills by practicing writing horizontal and vertical lines with their fingers in shaving cream. –Definitely a fun way to practice. 🙂 They also worked on their sorting skills and letter recognition skills by sorting foam O’s and P’s on plates.

The preschoolers practiced their crayon grip on sand paper. This is a great way to strengthen fine motor muscles. Practicing in as many ways possible is great for developing muscles. We colored fall leaves and felt the vibrations of the crayon on the sandpaper. This is a fun coloring activity to try at home!
