We are learning to recognize the letter T and the sound that it makes this week! We have been coming up with T words and finding the letter T when we look at books! We even used glue (by ourselves!!) to glue a tree shaped like a T onto paper! Check out our new glue stick skills!
With each new month and theme means new library books! The Early 3’s explored each new book from cover to cover. It is important to expose young children to a variety of books including fiction, non-fiction, nursery rhymes, etc. When young children are exposed to a variety of literature they are not only able to build on their knowledge and vocabulary, but are also able to find genres that interest them. This is a great way to promote early reading! This month we have books about gardening and vegetables, stories about garden creatures, and fun books with different pop-outs and textures!
During the month of March, we will be going over name recognition as well as reviewing our colors (in the rainbow). Today the boys and girls took turns finding their name by adding rainbow sand on top of glue. They used their fine motor skills to scoop and dump assorted sand over their paper. Once all of the colors were added, the child’s name magically appeared!
Lately, the Toddler teachers have been observing very friendly friendships growing around the classroom. As the boys and girls start learning and using more words, they are making connections with other children in the class. Here are some helpful tips on expanding communication with your child. Talk throughout the day, listen when your child talks, be nice and supportive when child seems frustrated, give choices to encourage them to talk, and read lots of stories!
The Toddlers learned about the letter P last week. The boys and girls made parrots out of the letter P, colored purple P’s at the easel, and played with pink playdoh. The children sang the letter P song during group time and went over their friends names.
Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
