This week the Toddlers have been talking about Fire Safety! We read a story called Fire Drill by Paul DuBois Jacobs and Jennifer Swender. We listened for the fire alarm and praticed walking calmly with our shape rope. The children did a great job walking in pairs and using their listening ears!
Today we used our Smartboard have fun and recognize our names. We reinforced our shape of the month and practiced drawing circles. The Smartboard is a great for fine motor muscles and hand eye coordination as well!
Ms. Penny visited our class for the first time this year! She is working very hard with our preschoolers to create AMAZING art pieces to be displayed at our annual Art Show in November.
When Ms. Penny visits she introduces an artist to the students before working on their art piece inspired by that artist.
Today in preschool we learned how to use scissors safely. Scissor skills are very important in preschool. Understanding the correct way to use scissors is important to stay safe while strengthening fine motor muscles and hand-eye coordination. The preschoolers were so proud of their work today!
While “traveling” to Hawaii this month we learned about their love for surfing. During yoga this week we pretended to be the waves of the ocean and the surfers riding the waves! We did a surfboard craft with two different steps.
Using stencils with Ms. Lori we had fun painting hibiscus flowers and sea turtles.
We finished decorating our surfboards while practicing recognizing the letters of our names.
We reviewed number recognition and worked on one to one correspondence during math groups today. The children did a wonderful job, a great way to start the year.
