  • Prewriting, Counting, Letters and More!

What a busy week for the Preschool Prep class! One of the many lessons they were able to do this week was called “Mitten Math”. By engaging in this activity, the students were able to work on their counting skills as well as their one to one correspondence.

In another activity, students were able to work on their prewriting skills.  They did this by drawing letters and shapes into salt trays. They all had fun being creative and practicing what they have learned through this sensory experience!

Another activity that everyone really enjoyed was the winter letter hunt! The kids had to dig through white winter sensory materials to find a letter.  They had to then identify the name and sound of that letter.

  • A Great First Few Days!

We have had a great first couple of days in the preschool room!  We have been learning how to use our clips when we want to play in a center, we’ve been making new friends, we read lots of stories, and we sang lots of songs!  We also got to do some fun sensory play while we learned about wearing team tags for our small groups!

  • Sensory Bags

Sensory bags are so easy to make, and the kids love them!  These bags are filled with purple gel and spiders to match our spider theme.  To make it, you can fill any size sandwich baggie with hair gel then add food coloring and squish it all around.  Next, add items of your choice such as glitter, confetti, or small objects.  But the fun doesn’t have to stop there.  You can make sensory bags with many different materials.  For more sensory bag ideas check out http://www.growingajeweledrose.com/2012/07/fun-with-sensory-bags.html.
