  • Preschool Summer Camp~ Week 5:: Eco-Explorers

    Today we had a guest appearance from Ms. Joanie! She let us play with her instruments and play the “hug game” (when the music stops you have to find someone to give a hug). We enjoyed dancing and singing with Ms. Joanie.

  • 2013 Summer Camp Registration Now Available

    We know it’s different in the summer.  It is time for vacation.  Visits to the lake house, the beach . . . home-improvement projects.  That’s why we offer our special summer programs for our students.   Activity themes that change weekly allow you to come and go as you please over the summer months.  Sign-up for one week or all of them as your child will have the opportunity to become a petite chef, paint like Van Gogh or sing and dance with recording artist Miss Joanie.  Whatever you choose, they are sure to have fun.  Who knows?  They may even learn something along the way.

  • Warming Up Our Vocal Chords for Music Class

  • Today Ms. Joanie came to our class to sing and play instruments with us! We always love having her in our class! She even brought her special gold sheet for “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.” Today we practiced holding a large crayon to draw and build our pre-writing skills. In small groups today we had fun with an “I Spy Alphabet Bag” –hair gel in a ziplock bag with foam letters. The children had to look for the first letter of their name, as well as the letter of the week (“Z”). We worked on our one-to-one correspondence by taking turns passing out sparkly pom-poms for each friend to put in their bowls. We are continuing to practice recognizing our names and the letters in our names. Today we molded play dough into the letters in our name. Hope you have a fantastic weekend! See you Monday!!

  • The highlight of our day today was singing and playing instruments with Ms. Joanie!! Check out the fun photos from our musical Friday morning!

  • Today, Ms. Joanie visited our morning and afternoon classes!! We had so much fun playing instruments and singing along with her! We also got to “act out” the “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” by bouncing a stuffed monkey on a gold sheet.

    Happy Birthday to Georgia!! We celebrated with cupcakes in the afternoon class.

  • Music with Ms. Joanie!

  • Our First Music Class with Ms Joanie!

    We were so excited to see Ms Joanie today for the first time this year!  She brought along some of her instruments and a new song about the ocean.  What a perfect way to start our study of the Great Barrier Reef!

    Children who grow up hearing music, singing songs, and moving to the beat are enjoying what experts call “a rich sensory environment.” That’s just a fancy way of saying they’re exposed to a wide variety of tastes, smells, textures, colors, and sounds. And researchers believe this forges more pathways between the cells in their brains.

    Musical experiences are an important way to help create these pathways, also called neural connections. And while listening to music is certainly key to creating them, it’s when children actively participate in music that they make the strongest connections.

    Research shows that kids who are actively involved in music (who play it or sing it regularly):

    • do better in reading and math when they start school
    • are better able to focus and control their bodies
    • play better with others and have higher self-esteem

  • Fun with Music..
