We started our class book today, All About the Farm. We’ve been learning what it means to be a good author and illustrator and now we’re putting it into practice! We completed the cover and page number one. We’ll continue working on it through the week then read it to the young 3’s in Ms. Ann’s Class when we’re finished. We can’t wait!
Establishing a routine with the “young” toddlers is important for their social and emotional development.
As a group we sing our Welcome song, encourage the children to talk about the weather, our letters and numbers and what we will be doing for the day. We also talk about what to expect for tomorrow including events that will take place in the future, if the day is predictable and the children are prepared, we will have a more successful transition throughout the day.
At group we do a series of simple body movements that are used to integrate all areas of the brain and to build self esteem. We include up, down, in, out, big and little. This also helps the children to focus and is a positive way to get the wiggles out.
We also take the opportunity to model the craft. At this age the children are visual learners and learn through example.
