  • The Great Outdoors Summer Camp

The first week of summer camp was full of adventures…the Children’s Museum Center joined our classroom to teach us about Wonderful Weather!  We made our own snow, learned about the electricity that is created by lightening and experimented with the power of air and wind.  We got a little messy as we dug for real night crawlers in the sensory table on the playground.  Water Wednesday was a hit with Splish Splashing Fun in our bubble pools.  We ended the week with a bike ride with our friends and a pizza party with popsicles!  We’re looking forward to next week’s Cooking Camp!

We couldn’t pass up the oportunity to capture this picture of Hunt serving hot chocolate to all of his friends.  The kids were lined up out the door to get a sip of his wonderful hot chocolate! Insta-snow 017

  • Open House 2010

Join us Thursday and Friday of this week (January 7th & 8th) as well as Monday of next week (January 11th) for preschool open house.  It is an opportunity for those families with children in the Toddler and Early 3’s programs to visit the preschool throughout the school day.  Talk with the teachers and observe the classroom in action.  We want the families at Tots to have the first opportunity to continue their children through preschool with us.  The open house is designed to allow current Tots families to interact with the live preschool classroom.  Rather than an early year evening meet and greet, it is our opinion that observing and following the teachers as they are instructing is critical to gain a working knowledge of what your children have to gain from continuing through our preschool.  Our preschool is committed to providing the finest education in an environment that teaches confidence, builds connections and encourages growth.  This event has been a great success in the past and we hope you can join us!

  • Winter Weather is Here…

As the winter weather quickly begins to come upon us, please remember that WE WILL GO OUTSIDE FOR RECESS IF THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 32 DEGREES.  Giving the children a break from the structure of the classroom and an opportunity to be physically active is a vital part of our day.

Please remember to dress your children appropriately for the weather- no skirts without tights or slip on shoes without socks.  One very important thing to remember is a hat and mittens. WE ASK THAT YOU SEND MITTENS WITH YOUR CHILD IN LIEU OF GLOVES. Imagine, if you will, putting on 24 pairs of gloves onto 48 individual itty bitty preschool size hands.  It is, to say the least, very time consuming and takes up some of their playtime outside.  Please purchase mittens for school to help us with the preparation for recess.  In advance THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!

  • Colorful Pasta!

    sensory table colored pasta

This week our sensory table is full of colorful noodles! The kids have been digging their hands in this colorful pasta and scooping and dumping it!  They have been using spoons to scoop the noodles into the bowls and pretend they are making soup!  Since all of the noodles are different colors this has been a great way to practice our color recognition as well!

  • Pumpkin Pie in A Bag!

    pumpkinpie

more cooking today, this time . . . pumpkin pie!

We made Pumpkin Pie in a bag today!  The children helped to measure and pour all of the ingredients into our special plastic bag.  The best part was that after we zipped up the bag, everyone had a turn to mush and mix everything together with their hands!  It was so exciting for them to see what it felt like as they were mixing the cold pumpkin pudding.  To make the crust of the pie, the kids also crushed up graham crackers on the table.
