  • Rainbow Writing our Way to being Independent Writers!

We used rainbow writing to begin our writing unit today with a focus on our names as well as lowercase letters c, o, and s.  We focused on starting at the top of each letter and holding our crayon the proper way (pinch it with your two fingers!).  It is also important for your preker to write their letter o in a counterclockwise direction to make the transition into writing an easy one.

  • Welcome to the Toddler Room!

We had a great first week of school in the Toddler Room! We were so excited to explore all of the fun new toys and centers throughout the room. The boys and girls spent part of  their day practicing sitting for group time and listening to a story! They loved the book 10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle. The children enjoyed pushing the “quack” button at the end of the story! The Toddlers had a great start to the week and are already transitioning smoothly into their new environment!

  • Broccoli Prints!

All week we’ve been having fun talking about vegetables and cooking with them. Today instead of cooking with veggies, we are painting with them! The children took their turns pressing broccoli  in brown paint, then using their fingers to make cherry blossoms on the tree! Their art work turned out great!

  • Planting a Rainbow

With spring in full swing, we took time today to talk about rainbows! During group time we  read Planting a Rainbow  by Lois Ehlert and reviewed all the colors in the rainbow. Then the children went on a scavenger hunt looking for different objects that were red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple! After recognizing all the colors in the rainbow, we fired up our fine motor skills and used Q-Tips to dot paint all the colors. The boys and girls did a great job painting a rainbow!
