This month the Toddlers are learning about things that fly. Last week during group time we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Waiting for Wings by Lois Ehlert. During art, the children strengthened their fine motor skills by squeezing watercolor filled eyedroppers on paper towels. They enjoyed observing the colors mesh together and turn into new colors. The project was finished off with a clothespin with eyes. Out came a beautiful butterfly, just like the book!
The color of the month is purple. The children used water colors to paint grapes purple.
The Early 3’s had a little “me” time right before spring break. They used yarn, googley eyes, and markers to make their faces. Some friends got really creative with their features and everyone got in a little writing practice when they used the markers to create their smiles!
The shape of the month is diamond. This week the Toddlers colored kites with crayons and markers.
Today the Toddlers used their fine motor skills to grip and pinch fruit loops while placing them on a flower. They reviewed their colors as they added each piece. The boys and girls were even able to eat a few fruit loops for a tasty treat!
During small groups this month we have been working on building and strengthening our fine motor skills. This week the boys and girls practiced putting pipe cleaning into a matching colored hole on top of an oatmeal jar. The children are doing a great job reviewing the colors of the rainbow!
