  • Partying with Purple!

The month of March is focused on the color purple. We made purple play-dough, painted with purple paint using oval cookie cutters, colored with purple crayons, stamped on purple paper, sorted different purple objects that we found around our classroom, and had a purple snack with purple grape juice! Purple party! We try to incorporate our monthly learning objectives (which you can find in the monthly newsletters) into each of our activities. You will also spy our shape of the month, which is oval, in our different centers and projects.

  • Holiday Happenings

We had such a fun holiday season with our friends in the toddler classroom! With holidays as our theme for the month of December, our activities were as fun and as festive as can be!

Here we were practicing our fine motor skills, by putting gumdrops onto straws and square toothpicks. Some of our friends made it more challenging by trying to stack as many as they could fit!

And we can’t forget about our different holiday art projects! Our friends did some painting with jingle bells to make candy cane stripes, painted using star cookie-cutters for Christmas tree ornaments. They also did alphabet projects about the letter “J” for Jingle Bells and “K” for Kiss under the mistletoe!

Our centers were focused around holiday happenings, too! We had Santa’s Workshop, red and green color sorting, Christmas tree pom-pom decorating, holiday puzzles, and our sensory table was filled with everything from jingle bells to cinnamon sticks!

It was truly a joyful and magical time of year with our friends in the toddler classroom. We are very thankful for such a wonderful ending to 2015, and look forward to what 2016 will bring for the Creative Tots toddler class!

Our theme this month is scary cute… MONSTERS! We read “Go Away Big Green Monster” and our toddler friends are already starting to make monsters of their own!

We also have lego-eating monsters. Our lego-eating monsters are used to teach our toddlers to match the color of the lego, with the color of the monster. With feeding the monsters, our friends are learning how to sort colors, use fine motor skills, and take turns!

  • Turkey Skittles Sort

  • Sorting and Counting Fun

The Early 3’s worked hard on counting and sorting items this week. They had fun using tweezers to pick up small items and sort them into their correct bins. They also counted and sorted eggs using their fingers.

  • Sorting Goldfish

The Early 3’s worked on their sorting skills with goldfish this week. We used the goldfish to sort and practice patterning. Take advantage of teachable moments in unlikely places (like snack time! )

  • Spooky Scissor Skills

IMG_2193 The Preschool class had a great time today working together to make our class pumpkin and bat, but it was no easy task! We had one very large white pumpkin and an oversized white bat that needed coloring in, however we didn’t use crayons, markers, or paint for this job! We got out our scissor and started snipping away at strips of orange and black paper. Each time we made a snip with our scissors we were able to add a small piece of color to our pumpkin and bat. Leaving a patch of white was out of the question, so the preschoolers put their developing fine motor skills to the test and worked very hard at getting the color just right. The PreK class was happy to help in finishing up during their afternoon class. It was a TEAM effort by all and we had a great time making them!

  • Bear Color Sorting

    letter sorting

    letter sorting

The kids were so intrigued today when we did our coloring sorting activity.  We had a bunch of different color bears and six different color bowls.  Our job was to work together to put the bears in the right color bowl.  Each child had a turn to take a bear and find the right home for him.  They did a wonderful job sorting the bears!  They couldn’t wait until it was their turn to take a bear!  We had many friends help each other to make sure the bears were put into the right bowls.
