Welcome to the 2016-2017 Creative Tots Toddler Classroom! We are so excited to have so many wonderful friends, old and new, in our class this year. This was our first full week of school, and being at school for the first time can be tough for friends as young as ours, but they all did SO wonderfully! We just know this is going to be an excellent school year. We know that you, toddler parents, are curious about what happens in your child’s day at school. On our blog you will find weekly updates about what happens in the toddler classroom. In the coming weeks, we will be posting about our daily schedule, and you can get a feel for what our mornings look like. For the first couple of weeks, we wanted all of our friends to get very familiar with their new surroundings. They are already learning about sharing, using their words, and how to clean up their messes!
Below you can see a rough structure of our day. Our toddlers are already learning how to transition from one activity to the next. This helps foster a sense of independence, once they know what to expect as they get more and more used to the schedule of our day.

We are getting into a groove here in preschool and we are loving getting to know all of our new students! This week has been all about getting comfortable in our new classroom, learning where things are, how to use the clip system in our centers, and making new friends! Today we talked about our favorite centers and the favorites are definitely the baby center, the tower, and the library! We are having a lot of fun! We also learned what a good listener looks like. We read the story Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen and we had special helpers show us examples of what a good listener does and looks like!
It was our last week in our Summer Play Date Experience and we had a blast!
We played balloon tennis, had a wind blown tunnel fort, played outside, and so many other fun activities including this awesome art project!
We had a lemonade stand and everyone got to have lemonade with their snack one day!
We played with rainbow bubble socks!
We played with water on Water Wednesday!
One of the days, it ended up being very rainy so we brought our chalk play experience inside!
We had a special visit from Cool Critters and we had some very brave kids get up close and personal with some very cool critters!
And to end our week, we had a party to celebrate the end of summer!
In our fifth 2-3 year old summer playdate series, Dinosaur Playdate, we had so much fun spending the week imagining a time when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. We got to dance around to one of our favorite tunes, “We Are the Dinosaurs”, with Ms. Joanie, on Music Monday. We also used dinosaur mats for our friends to practice using tweezers to place the pom pom on the coordinating color–excellent fine motor for our younger ones to practice their hand strength!
We also had different group time games, one of which was sorting different size dinosaurs into their correct bowl. The other game we played was a dinosaur shape matching game, which our friends loved, too!
Dinosaur crafts 🙂
For some science fun, we used warm water in squirt bottles to melt dinosaurs out of their frozen ice eggs! The ice and water cooled us down on a hot summer morning, and they so enjoyed when they freed the dinosaurs!
On our party day, they got to decorate their own cupcakes with different types of candies and sprinkles, then they dug right in!
Last week we had our Get Up & Move Play Date and we had so much fun! We did Obstacle Courses, had some fun with Water Day Wednesday, played some tossing games, had a bounce house, and did a lot of dancing! We ended our week with a fun party and had a special cupcake for snack! It was such a great week!
We had such a great time during our Pirates and Princesses playdate series. We had discovery bins for our pirates to explore the black pirate beaches, complete with pirate ships and buried treasure! For our princesses, we had the Queen’s jewels and Cinderella’s glass slipper!
Walk the plank, get a stamp! Our pirates did a great job trying not to fall off of the “plank” and into the “water” with all of our sea creatures! 🙂
Tic Toc Croc ring toss!
We had a Frozen ice experiment using glittery ice cubes with secret jewels inside. Put the “magic potion” on the cubes and watch them fizz and magically melt away!
Party day! Complete with costumes, cupcakes, a piñata, and balloons!
We’re so glad our Princesses and Pirates joined us for such a fun week of playdates!
