Today during group time,   Carson put on his special astronaut suit to show everyone.  The kids were so excited to see a real space suit!

We have been talking about rocketships blasting into space and doing many countdowns as a class!  This afternoon we experimented with a balloon, straw, and piece of string during group time.  We asked the question “what do you think will happen if I blew up this balloon attached to the straw and then let it go?” We

Ms. Penny taught us about Pablo Picasso today and his unique style of art!  We learned that he used many different shapes in his work and that the “people” in his artwork are made up of all of these different shapes.  After studying his work, The Three Musicians, and made our own rendition!  Thank you Ms. Penny for another GREAT art class!  We can’t wait to see what you have planned next…

We practiced writing our numbers again today in small groups.  We then counted out the right number of gumballs to match our number and glued them inside our gumball machine!  Tracing numbers aids in our fine motor development and proper pencil grip.  It trains our hand to feel comfortable moving in the small movements needed for successful independent writing in the near future!  Make sure that if your working with your child at home in writing, that they are using the correct grip.  It is easier to train than retrain the brain.

Today in small groups, Ms. Lori read the book, Air is All Around You, then we did some experiments with air.  In the morning, we placed a small paper towel in the bottom of a tall glass.  We turned the glass upside down and placed it slowly into the water.  We watched in amazement as the paper towel stayed dry!  We learned that a pocket of air protected the paper towel from the water.   In the afternoon class we discovered that we can produce air and use it to move things!  We tested different objects to see if we could move them with our own air!
