We ended our day of number fun by watching “10 Little Numbers.” The preschoolers LOVE watching videos on the Smartboard and these songs are a great way to help your little one learn letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. They are fun, educational, and easy to search on YouTube!

Ms. Penny visited our class for the first time this year! She is working very hard with our preschoolers to create AMAZING art pieces to be displayed at our annual Art Show in November.

When Ms. Penny visits she introduces an artist to the students before working on their art piece inspired by that artist.

  • Surf’s Up!

While “traveling” to Hawaii this month we learned about their love for surfing. During yoga this week we pretended to be the waves of the ocean and the surfers riding the waves! We did a surfboard craft with two different steps.

Using stencils with Ms. Lori we had fun painting hibiscus flowers and sea turtles.

We finished decorating our surfboards while practicing recognizing the letters of our names.

  • Yoga Relaxation

Yoga Kids by Marsha Wenig is a great book for guiding preschoolers through poses and relaxation. A lot of our daily yoga relaxation is based off the fun ideas in this book.

Today we stretched our bodies while channeling our inner surfer! We pretended to ride the waves of Hawaii.

Ask your preschooler to teach you Bunny Breath, you will be sure to see a very scrunched up nose! This is how we get oxygen to our brains to help us during yoga.

  • Creating our Learning Atmosphere

Today we focused on learning the procedures and routines of our classroom to set up a successful school year and positive learning atmosphere. During whole group we used sequencing cards to learn and review what to do while playing in a center. At small group time we used sequencing cards for how to wash our hands and what we do when we arrive at school in the morning. Establishing routines is crucial for a smooth classroom environment!
