The preschoolers have been practicing the correct way to hold scissors. Friday they were able to start cutting snips of paper. We made fringe on a chinese lantern then practiced our crayon grip while coloring the lantern.
The preschoolers have been reading, reading, reading! We filled up our classroom marble jar and had a celebration in pajamas with our favorite bedtime stories and pancakes.
The preschool and Pre-K families took a ride to the pumpkin patch at Iron’s Fruit Farm yesterday. We trekked through the muddy fields in search of the perfect pumpkin! Some were round, some were tall, some were big and some were small! What did your perfect pumpkin look like?
We introduced the letter ‘p’ in preschool this morning. The preschoolers worked on letter sounds and handwriting skills. They brainstormed as many words as they could that start with ‘p’. Explore your house to discover things that start with ‘p’ with your preschooler.

In small groups we learned the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters. We will be working on this skill all month. Point out the difference to your preschooler between uppercase and lowercase letters in words. Have fun and explore with letters and words around you!

Today was our first Story Time! The kids were very excited to have Louise & Micaela’s mom, Mrs. Schoeny, join us in our classroom.
Thanks so much for reading to the class!
This morning in preschool we practiced lots of skills. We worked on our listening and direction following skills while practicing color recognition, letter recognition, and letter sounds. The preschoolers were instructed to color all the P’s purple, the B’s blue, and the R’s red.
The preschoolers have been working very hard on their crayon grip. What quick learners they are!
Practicing letter sounds is so easy, just ask your preschooler what the first sound of a word is during everyday activities. Letter sounds are a strong foundation for reading. Any type of exposure and practice is helpful.
