We have lots of great bakers in our preschool prep classroom! We all worked together to make homemade chocolate chip cookies that we were able to eat for snack! Yumm 🙂
Last week we learned all about the butterfly life cycle in preschool prep! The students were able to watch a life cycle video, complete an activity where they put all of the cycle steps in order, helped to act out the stages of the life cycle and finally, listen to a reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar! What a fun day!
We learned that the first step of the life cycle is for the mother butterfly to lay eggs on a leaf. Next, a baby caterpillar emerges from its egg. (We learned that the baby caterpillar feeds on its egg shell before eating anything else!) We had some volunteers act out these stages 🙂
After the caterpillar can’t eat anymore and grows bigger, it builds a cocoon around itself called a chrysalis.  It grows and changes in this chrysalis for about 15 days! We wrapped some of our friends in a pretend chrysalis to act out this step!
When the caterpillar is ready, it breaks free from its chrysalis and is no longer a caterpillar, but a beautiful butterfly!
The Preschool Prep class had a blast celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! They were able to go on a gold hunt, complete St. Patrick’s Day crafts, and have a yummy shamrock shaped treat!
We read the story “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle, and made our very own class spider web!
We had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday today!  We read Dr. Seuss books, completed a rhyming activity, did a Cat in the Hat name building craft, and played Dr. Seuss bingo! The children were able to enjoy a delicious Cat in the Hat snack as well!
What fun we had at our class Valentine’s Day party today!
Games, treats, a photo booth and music with Ms. Joanie! What could be better?
What a busy week for the Preschool Prep class! One of the many lessons they were able to do this week was called “Mitten Math”. By engaging in this activity, the students were able to work on their counting skills as well as their one to one correspondence.
In another activity, students were able to work on their prewriting skills. They did this by drawing letters and shapes into salt trays. They all had fun being creative and practicing what they have learned through this sensory experience!
Another activity that everyone really enjoyed was the winter letter hunt! The kids had to dig through white winter sensory materials to find a letter. They had to then identify the name and sound of that letter.
We are excited to announce our Summer Playdate Series!  Everyone loves a playdate, but the kids want to have them more than parents like to host them. Let us play host this summer . . . that means no mess, no noise, no cleanup and no negotiations about who gets to come over. We have decided that summertime at Creative Tots should be more about what the kids want. The kids want to play.  The kids want to see their friends. The kids have spoken and we have listened. They think that anything to do with “camp” might just be a little too much like school. Let your kids explore they way they are built to explore . . . through playing in the summertime with their friends. So, grab a friend and join us!Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
