  • Small Groups in Early 3’s

    Check out what we did during small group time today! We are working on the letter “J” by writing it in pink sand. The children enjoy this sensory experience as they practice writing. They also painted stars in the night sky to go with our “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” theme. Another small group got to take turns putting their hands down in a special cup (covered in a colorful holiday sock) to retrieve a letter. They would retrieve the letter and identify it and its sound.

  • Early 3’s ~ Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and All Sorts of Fun Learning Activities

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

    We have been very busy in the early 3’s class. I apologize for not posting more often. These days and weeks are just flying by! We have been working on writing our letters for the week in pink sand. The children have been doing so well with this! ๐Ÿ˜€ Lots of exciting moments as I watch children write different letters for the first time. We have been working on our scooping and pouring skills with a variety of experiences. Before Thanksgiving, we had a special whole group activity where the children came up and told me what they were thankful for. I wrote their response on a paper cut out of a feather, and they taped it onto the turkey on our magnetic board. Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! See you Monday!

  • Early 3’s {Wednesday, November 14th}

    It’s so hard to believe that it is the middle of November!!! Check out what we did today! In our small group, we practiced our sorting and shape recognition skills. The children practiced sorting squares (this month’s shape) and triangles (last month’s shape). We also made hand print turkeys (which will be ready to take home on Friday!) Our major accomplishment today was sitting for group on carpet squares! Quite the feat! ๐Ÿ™‚ I was very proud of the children!!! Check out the last photo in this post as proof! Looking forward to a fun-filled Friday with the Early 3’s! See you then! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Today in the Early 3’s class, we made “H” is for “Hands.” We painted our hand prints over the letter “H” written in painter’s tape. I loved how they turned out!! We also practiced our scooping skills by scooping marbles out of rice and putting them into cups/bowls. We worked on identifying our letters by having children come up one at a time and point to the letter they were asked to find. {We definitely still need to work on our letter recognition.} For snack today, the children had to find their nameย  (written on the butcher paper covering the table) and sit at the seat when they found their name. This was an activity to help them with their name recognition…and they absolutely loved it. Before they could get up from snack, they had to try tracing their names with a crayon of a different color other than the color it was written in. I was amazed by how many children could follow the letters in their name. During whole group, we talked about using our imagination and read the story, “It Looked Like Spilt Milk.” I passed around a colorful box and had the children shake it, then use their imaginations to guess what was inside. Needless to say, the children thoroughly enjoyed this activity!! Overall, a fantastic start to our week here at Creative Tots! See you on Wednesday!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out what we have been doing this week!

    {Monday}

    We made “G” is for “gold” by painting the letter “G” with gold paint. We worked on our one-to-one correspondence and number recognition with pegs. We also practiced our sorting skills by sorting colored buttons.

    {Wednesday: Halloween}

    We continued to work on our number recognition skills by placing the correct amount of candy corn on the corn stalk. We still need a lot of work with our number recognition. We also painted spiders with our hand prints. We worked on opening and closing clothespins while practicing number recognition. We enjoyed a tasty treat from Ms. Kate: Halloween cupcakes!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yummm

  • On Wednesday, we practiced “painting” the letters in our first name. The children each got a chalk board and wet paint brush. I wrote the letter on their board, and they traced the letter with their wet paint brush. We also worked on a letter sort/review. The children were given a cup of foam letters that we have learned this year, and they practiced sorting them. For our art group, the children painted leaves and printed them on paper. Very pretty results!! We’re having a lot of fun in Early 3’s!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    HAPPY MONDAY!!! Today we had a lot of fun in our small groups!! We worked on holding/using a glue stick on our own! EVERYONE did fantastic! They worked on their fine motor skills along with their glue stick skills by gluing colorful cut outs of fall leaves onto a black paper. For our art small group, we painted apple prints to go along with our fall/farm theme. In our other small group, we continued to work on our lacing skills by lacing large beads. Our book for this week isย  “Big Red Barn.” The children LOVED this story! Hope you all are having a fantastic week so far!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    On Wednesday, we had fun painting mud on pigs to go along with our “Farm” theme. We worked on our letter for the week: “F.” We played a game where the children picked a card with a picture on it. They would then determine if the item/animal started with an “F” or not.

  • Lots going on in the Early 3’s class!! Today we practiced our new letter: “F.” We practiced “writing” F’s with stampers. We made “F is for Fall” for our alphabet book. We also made roosters with our footprints! {sorry…I don’t have any photos of that!} During our group time, we learned about our shape of the month: triangle. We practiced recognizing and saying the name. We also read an exciting book called “Who’s in the Shed.” Once I had finished the story, they wanted me to read it again. ๐Ÿ™‚ I introduced the children to the numbers 4 and 5 today, as well. We will continue working on these numbers along with numbers 1-3. The children are quickly catching on to our name recognition game. They are learning the letters in their name so quickly!! I’m so proud of them! Definitely a great start to our week!
