OUR CHEERING SECTION!
Ms. Penny joined our classes Thursday and Friday afternoon to teach us about a french artist who used dots to create his paintings. His name was Georges Seurat. After we learned about his technique and examined one of his famous paintings, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, we tried our hand at our own creation using his unique painting technique. Some of us even put it into practice at the art center all by ourselves…there were snowmen made out of dots and other great creations too!
What Does Your Child Learn on the Playground??
The playground is much more than just a place outdoors where children go for recess. They need opportunities to develop their bodies and coordination by running, jumping, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling. The playground is a natural place for physical development as well as for social and emotional development. When there is a good balance between vigorous play and quieter activities, children are generally more relaxed and ready to profit from their entire school experience!
Recently we’ve been playing a lot of our Grid Games. These games help us master various skills while having lots of fun. We may play a game based on the letter of the week, a theme that we’ve been discussing in class, etc. The game focuses on things like one to one correspondance, counting, number and letter recognition, social skills through turn taking, and so much more. We love these games and take so much more than just fun away from them!
