On Friday we did a lot of fine motor development activities! {group #1} We used play dough to mold the shapes of the letters on our cards. {group #2} Each child got a card with 5 letters on it. They had to search through the magnetic letters to find the letters that matched the letters on their card. {group #3} art show surprises. 🙂

This week in the toddler class, we have been learning about the color purple! During group time, the children come up to the board and choose a purple shape to “feed” to the sparkly purple bag. We have also been learning about baby animals. We made little lions this week! We used our fine motor skills to paint the lion with sparkly yellow paint and to place the foam strips on the head for the mane.

Wednesday in early 3’s small groups: {group #1} We worked on our fine motor development as we strung beads on pipe cleaners. For this activity, the children had to practice their number recognition skills by looking at the number on the top of the pipe cleaner then stringing the corresponding amount of beads onto the pipe cleaner. {group #2} We worked on our hand-washing skills. This is the next step of our routine each day: washing our hands. Knowing how to wash hands correctly and for the right amount of time will help the children stay healthy –especially at this time of the year. {group #3} We worked on developing our cognitive skills by working with patterns using colorful monkeys that stack.

We have been learning all about the animals and habitat of the Arctic Tundra in Greenland this month. The preschoolers have done a great job listening and retaining all kinds of fun facts. They had some time to explore the icy waters where these animals live today. The preschoolers had a blast pretending to walk along the ice and dipping into the water! This type of imaginative play is a perfect way for little ones to remember facts and information they have learned. Ask your preschooler which animals they explored with on the ice today!
