Hello Families! Today was another assessment day in preschool. Meeting with each and every preschooler means that I can assess each and every academic need. We did not meet in small groups today, however, it was an excellent opportunity to revisit classroom routine & procedures, while becoming better acquainted with the centers. Thank you for your patience!
Assessments have begun! Because of this, we did not have small groups today. The children enjoyed spending time working in centers, reviewing routines and having some great outdoor time.

We reviewed and practiced number recognition 0-10 along with one-to-one correspondence in our math groups this week. We also practice writing our numbers 0-10 using our dry erase markers.
We continued reading our book, I JUMP in reading groups this week. This book introduced us to the sight word the and I. We practiced using our “magic” reading finger while we pointed to the words that we read. By the end of the week we were able to identify the sight words we knew as well as use the first reading strategy we learned (use the picture to give us a clue about an unknown word). The students did a WONDERFUL job and I’m very proud of them. GREAT GREAT JOB KIDS!
