  • April Part One: Insects and Gardening

April’s theme in Preschool Prep is based around gardening and insects. We have integrated this theme into our daily curriculum and are having so much fun!

    Bug Fossils!

Each day this month we have done a “Daily News” segment in the classroom 🙂 We first have someone introduce the news, and then we work together to figure out what month and day of the week it is. Next, we choose a student to be our “weather kid” for the day. This person gets to wear a special badge and report the weather based on what they see outside and how it feels! Lastly, we complete a feelings chart where the students pick a face that mimics how they are feeling that day (all of the children have picked the happy face so far)!

  • Easy indoor snowman!

Waking up this morning to a yard full of snow?

Dust off your Mr. Potato Head, bring in some snow, and have fun!!!

  • First Snow of the year!

It may only be November but the snow was falling in Cincinnati.

We talked about the weather forecast the day before and discussed what we needed to bring to school to prepare for the fluffy white stuff.  HATS!  COATS!  MITTENS!

It hit 30 degrees so we bundled up and headed out for a quick 10 minutes of exploration on the playground.

Did I mention that one of our classmates brought in a “Let’s Make a Snowman!” kit from home?!

If this is what winter is going to inspire, we will be ready!

  • The Great Outdoors Summer Camp

The first week of summer camp was full of adventures…the Children’s Museum Center joined our classroom to teach us about Wonderful Weather!  We made our own snow, learned about the electricity that is created by lightening and experimented with the power of air and wind.  We got a little messy as we dug for real night crawlers in the sensory table on the playground.  Water Wednesday was a hit with Splish Splashing Fun in our bubble pools.  We ended the week with a bike ride with our friends and a pizza party with popsicles!  We’re looking forward to next week’s Cooking Camp!
