  • Fabulous Fall and Farm

The toddlers are enjoying a fabulous fall full of squirrel songs, apple sorting /peeling, rectangle scarecrows, and name building with fall leaves.   Our centers this month are designed to give the toddlers the opportunity to explore farm animals, farm books, farm puzzles, new textures in the sensory bin,  and “cooking apple pie” in the dramatic play center.  We have milked a “cow”, sorted leaves, and continue to enjoy the season through purposeful play.

  • Toddlers Down on the Farm

The toddlers utilized the farm theme to reinforce shape, color, counting, fine motor, and vocabulary skills.  We sang Old McDonald and read The Big Red Barn.  Our learning environment this month includes farm puzzles, toys, animals, and even a farmer’s market for pretend play.

A square scarecrow was our weekly craft.

We practiced using glue sticks for this craft!

Tractor painting while discussing different colors created a fun sensory experience!

Pigs covered in mud was another fun sensory experience.  We watched a video of real pigs rolling in the mud.

Pin the tail on the piggy!

    Milk the cow!

Roll the die to see how many wool rolls to put on the sheep.

  • Fun Fall on the Farm

We have had so much fun with fall and farm activities in the toddler room this month.  Lots of sensory experiences have been planned to help explore and learn. An apple peeler provided us with fine motor practice, yummy snack, and cute photo opportunity. Watercolor, glue, and other art mediums were provided to create fall foxes, scarecrows, and leaves.  Old McDonald has been a favorite classic to sing and play with instruments.  We discussed things that we were thankful for and talked about foods that families eat on Thanksgiving Day.   We are so thankful for our toddlers and their families!

  • Down on the Farm – Toddler Summer Camp

We had a fun week at toddler summer camp – Down on the Farm.  We sang songs, read farm stories, played games, did crafts, ate special snacks, and played outside!  Yeehaw!

    My cute chick craft.

    Parachute fun!

Kona ice on Wednesday was a big hit!

We also had pink piggies (marshmallows) in the mud (chocolate pudding).

  • Farm Fun!

The farm theme has provided some fun center options and activities in the toddler room.

The toddler sensory bin filled with corn kernels and farm animals.

A horse barn has provided a fun place for imaginary play.

We used our sense of hearing to listen to the farm animal sounds!

We have practiced fine motor skills while lacing farm animals!

Fun farm animal magnets were mixed with letters to provide discussion.

Another sensory activity included washing big and little farm animals.

We sorted farm animals by size (big and little) and by color.

Then we acted out our book of the month, I Spy On the Farm,  with face puppets.

  • Gardening Galore!

The Kprep class has been learning about the parts of a plant, the plant life cycle, what a plant needs to survive and how to grow our very own plant! The students have made individual  “Green house’s” and have planted their very own grass seed! We added some crazy faces to our cups so that when grass grows, it will look like our hair!

We are excited to see some results!
