Step Into Spring Kids Fashion Show

    Kenwood Country Club
    March 13, 2011

I think I just witnessed the future leaders of Cincinnati… if not America. On behalf of the Help Me Grow program provided by Lighthouse Youth Services, Creative Tots hosted a fashion show at Kenwood Country Club with some of the cutest kids in the Tri-State.

Hey Tyra, no need to search out winners on America’s Next Top Model, they’ve been spied right here.

Of course some of the kids were a little shy on the runway but that only served to boost the OMG/AHH factor while others had a natural swag that they brought to the show. Along with the spirited youths, audience members were delighted by the fashion—special thanks to Castle House and The Wardrobe. Proud to say I’ve bought dresses from both stores!

Lighthouse Youth Services is a multi-service, non-profit organization that provides help and resources for teens, young adults and parents in need.  The Help Me Grow Program provides support and service coordination for families of infants and toddlers who are at risk for, or are experiencing, developmental delays.  Help Me Grow is designed to help first time parents who are pregnant or whose children are birth to three years old, and who meet the eligibility criteria, which may include certain medical diagnoses or developmental delay.  Help Me Grow assists parents in helping their children grow and learn by facilitating their children’s development and keeping them safe and healthy.

Our theme is “Help Me To Grow” and this idea came about because Lynn and Manda wanted to start a project that would help teach the children at Creative Tots about service and helping others.  Like all great ideas, this one grew from being a simple service project into a fun event that will enable children and their families to participate.  We like this idea because it was a way to involve the entire Creative Tots community in supporting our children’s efforts to help others.  And, we love the Help Me Grow program at Lighthouse Youth Services because it is helping parents help their children grow up strong and healthy – just like all of us at Creative Tots are doing for our own children!

  • Mini Sunflower Revolution

The PreK students had the opportunity to participate in a fundraising event to aid in the research for a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.  The children raised a wonderful amount of money which was matched by Creative Tots and presented at the Sunflower Revolution Ride on Sunday the 12th.  Way to go kids!  These types of opportunities are a great chance for you to help your child gain a perspective outside of their own little world and begin to open their eyes to others who may be in need.  Great Life Lesson.  Our wonderful Art Teacher’s husband, Ron “aka Mr. Ron” who suffers from Parkinson’s Disease, dropped by the bike-a-thon in his racing gear to show his appreciating for the children’s efforts.  He and Ms. Penny were VERY grateful for all of our financial support.
