Congratulations 2012 Pre-K Graduates!

To further our unit on things that fly, we have been exploring outer space this week! The boys and girls strengthened their fine motor skills as well as hand- eye coordination by pulling and sticking stars on paper. Each child made their very own constellation. Some children wanted lots of stars where others chose just a few! We also finger-painted crescent moons. The children love to move their fingers through the smooth, cold paint.

We had the chance to experience some of things we have been learning about in our Native American Study.
During snack time we husked our own corn and enjoyed it right off the cob.

Native American Musical Instruments…we learned that native americans used all sorts of materials that they found to create music.

Hunting was a way of life for Native Americans. We learned that they would use all of the animal for tools, clothing, and everyday necessities. During Native American day we explored arrow heads, hand made bows, arrows and tomahawks.

Cradleboards were used to carry their babies while taking care of the chores of daily life. Bright Rainbow demonstrated how it was used.

Mano Metate’s were used to grind the corn into corn meal.

The pre-ker’s explored different types of Native American Jewelry and learned that they would use a variety of items from nature to create beautiful jewelry. Corn, feathers, shells, and wood to name a few. We used feathers and wood to create our necklaces to remind us of all that we learned today.

We kicked the year off right at our Back to School Carnival! It was great to see everyone again after a long summer. We’ll see you very soon…

Join us this summer for another great selection of camps for both preschool and toddlers. Download our registration forms and choose from any or all of the eleven weeks this year.
Thank you everyone for over 250 packages of diapers, wipes, and creams. We were able to help so many deserving families in our community. We love to see the children put their lessons of compassion into practice. Way to go everyone!

Kenwood Country Club
March 13, 2011
I think I just witnessed the future leaders of Cincinnati… if not America. On behalf of the Help Me Grow program provided by Lighthouse Youth Services, Creative Tots hosted a fashion show at Kenwood Country Club with some of the cutest kids in the Tri-State.
Hey Tyra, no need to search out winners on America’s Next Top Model, they’ve been spied right here.
Of course some of the kids were a little shy on the runway but that only served to boost the OMG/AHH factor while others had a natural swag that they brought to the show. Along with the spirited youths, audience members were delighted by the fashion—special thanks to Castle House and The Wardrobe. Proud to say I’ve bought dresses from both stores!
We encourage you to participate – Thank you for your comments. We love to hear from all of you!
