We ordered a variety of objects by size during math groups…we ordered them both from smallest to largest and back again. We also ordered them both horizontally and vertically. We loved the towers the best! Learning can be such fun.

We worked in partners and explored the concept of more and less during math groups.
We explored nonstandard units of measurement during small groups. During our measurement experiment we made predictions about how many “marshmallows” (large and small) long we thought each item would be. We tested our predictions and found the actual length of each item, then recorded it our math log.
The Early 3’s began working with scissors last week! Boy were they excited for this one! We talked about scissor safety and the do’s and don’ts of scissors. We practiced putting one finger on top and two fingers on bottom and about how to keep our thumbs pointed to the sky! We began by cutting pieces of paper and for a little extra practice and fun we used play-doh scissors to practice cutting play-doh. We will continue to work with scissors at school as it is a tricky skill to pick up. Practice at home to help your early 3 build their fine motor muscles to help make the task easier for them!
This month the Toddlers have been working on identifying rectangles. The boys and girls went over color recognition and counting to five during this activity!
This month, the Toddlers have been working on the vocabulary and concept of top, middle, and bottom. The children have lots of opportunities to build on this concept throughout the classroom. Today the boys and girls took turns placing clothing on the magnetic board.
The Early 3’s had a blast using their fine motor skills to fill a pasta strainer with pipe cleaners! This is a simple activity you can do at home to keep your child busy all while helping them strengthen and fine tune those muscles! Try it with dried spaghetti noodles!
