  • Mad Science Color Lab

A scientist from “Mad Science” joined us today to introduce our preschoolers to the exciting world of color.  The “Mad Scientist” walked us through some exciting demonstrations about primary colors and color mixing.  Be sure to ask  your little one what they learned today!  The kids really seemed to enjoy everything she had to say and were intrigued at all of her experiments.  They will visit again toward the end of the year to share a different program with about worms!

  • Scissor Fun in the Cutting Pool

We were stuck inside most of the day today so we thought we would bring some summer fun into the classroom!  During small groups today the children took to the pools and created their own water by cutting small strips of various colors of blue construction paper.  It was a HIT!  The children have mastered scissor safety and were very responsible with the way in which they controlled the scissors while in the pools to keep themselves and their friends safe.  Way to go everyone!

We have been learning about the number ten this week.  We have learned a new song about the number ten and also how to spell it!  We also had the chance to use yummy marshmallows to outline the number ten while working our small motor muscles in our hands and number recognition for number ten.

  • Presents in the Sensory Table

The kids had fun this afternoon in the sensory table filling presents and matching the right lids to the right presents.  They were using their imaginations to fill the presents with toy cars, dolls, trucks and many other things!   sensory table-presents 024

  • Gingerbread Prints

This morning we made a mess with brown paint and gingerbread cookie cutters!  The children were able to dip the gingerbread cookie cutters into paint and make gingerbread man prints all over the table!  What a fun way to get messy! sensory table-presents 076

  • Who’s In the Present?

    presents 209

Today during group time we played a game called “Who’s in the Present?”  ALl of the children had to close their eyes while one child was picked to go inside of the present.  When they heard “open your eyes!”, they couldn’t wait to look around and try and figure out who was missing from the group! If they were having a hard time, they got a clue if it was a boy or a girl.  When they made their final guess, we turned the present around to find out who was inside!  This was the highlight of their afternoon!  All we kept hearing was “Can we do it again!!”

  • The Number 3

    number 3 181 number 3 177

This week we have been working on number recognition with the number 3.  For our arts and craft project the children were able to decorate 3 gingerbread men with glitter and sprinkle glitter on the number 3.  We counted each gingerbread man and talked about what the number 3 looks like.

Here is a good rhyme for remembering the number 3.

    Round the tree,

    Round the tree,

That’s how you make the number 3! number 3 163
