  • Jovial January

Happy New Year from the studio toddler room!  The weather has kept us busy indoors this month but we have filled our days with crafts, discovery bins, winter centers, stories, dancing, and learning through play.  Our color focus is white and our shape is the triangle so we incorporated these focus targets into most of our centers, small groups, whole group and purposeful play.

  • Jumpin’ into January!

Along with our winter themed activities, we are learning about “responsibility”. To help teach this, the students each have a classroom job they are responsible for weekly! They have really taken ownership of these responsibilities. We are promoting independence and autonomy in the classroom!

Cutting icicles (we brought a real one in from outside to observe and touch)!

  • Our Preschool Winter Wonderland!

With all of the snow and cold weather we received this week, we could not go outside for recess…this meant we had to bring some snow inside! We painted snow, and made “Mr. Potato Head” snow people!

We had to get some wiggles out with some parachute fun!

  • The Beginning of the Holiday Season

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we are getting into the holiday spirit!

We started by making open ended creations using red and green gum drops and tooth picks!

We went on a letter hunt in pretend snow! (Even though it happened to be 60 degrees outside at the end of November!)

We painted with star shaped cookie cutters! Our December shape is the star, and color is red.

The students were able to make homemade red, peppermint play-doh! We will use this in class activities throughout December.

  • Winter at Creative Tots!

It may not feel like winter outside, but we are bringing winter into the classroom! The Preschool Prep class has been learning a lot and having a blast with these winter themed activities!

  • Snow Day!

The snow might have kept us from going outside, but that didn’t keep us from bringing the snow inside.

  • Painting with snow

Monday morning was a snowy one in Cincinnati.

Time to bring the outdoors in!!!

The children loved using water colors and brushes to make our crisp white snow colorful.

    Try this one at home!

  • Cooking Up Some Snow Playdough

We made our very own batch of snow play dough today in small groups.  We measured and mixed the ingredients found on the recipe to create a wonderful bowl full of fun.  Our special ingredient was of course…glitter to make it sparkle like freshly fallen snow.

  • Fun in the Snow!

The early 3’s had some cold hands after building in the snow this afternoon!  Emma and Parker worked hard at making their very own “snow cake” with candles on top!  Parker even said “we made a snow cake because birthday cakes make people happy.”  What sweet kids we have here at Creative Tots!=) Snow 011
