  • Orange October

Orange is the focus color for the month of October!  So many fun purposeful play experiences to immerse the toddlers in all things orange.  Pumpkins, paint, playdough, discovery bins, fine motor skills, large motor skills, new vocabulary, songs, games, and more have kept our class busy learning through play.

  • Halloween

We had so much fun in our class this week!  The costumes were so fun and lots of crafts, games, and a mummy snack!

  • Five Little Pumpkins

We practiced our Five Little Pumpkins finger play throughout the month.  The toddlers reinforced this through group time action and crafts.  We also used fine motor skills to take washi tape on and off little pumpkins, salt trays, dot paints, and coloring.  Pumpkin shape matching too!

  • Orange Halloween Pumpkin Fun!

The fun month of October has been filled with lots of orange, pumpkins, and Halloween celebrations.

The toddlers enjoyed several sensory experiences.

We also practiced several fine motor activities.

Five Little Pumpkins has been a favorite song this month.  We sang it several times using different props and media.

We finished October out with fun Halloween games, activities, and snacks.

  • 5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate

The month of October presents itself with many opportunities to explore pumpkins.  We opened a pumpkin and used our senses to feel, smell,  and observe the pumpkin.  The toddlers also did a 5 Little Pumpkins craft and acted out the fingerplay in front of the class!  We decorated pumpkins using washi tape and plan to bathe them next week!

  • Five Little Pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate…  We have had so much fun with this little song.  We did an art project with pumpkin stickers, read several book versions, put 5 pumpkins on the magnet board, and acted the song out.  We also made yummy pumpkin muffins, decorated mini pumpkins with washi tape, and played hot pumpkin (a version of hot potato).  Our sensory bin for the month has been pumpkin seeds with scoops and tins to “make pumpkin pie”.  We also plan to use all of our senses to explore the outside and inside of a pumpkin!  Happy orange October!

  • Hands-on Fall Activities

The Preschoolers and Preschool Preppers have been apart of many fun, hands-on explorations this month! We opened up a pumpkin, made our own homemade applesauce and had some animals visit the classroom!

  • Pumpkin Exploration!

We had a lot of fun exploring our class pumpkin using all 5 of our senses! Some of us weren’t so sure we liked the “squishy” feeling inside of the pumpkin 😉

We counted our pumpkin seeds and also learned about what pumpkins need to grow! Such fun in Preschool Prep.

  • Dotters!

We have so much fun using paint dotters in the Toddler classroom. And this is a great activity to strengthen their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills.

Today we drew a few pumpkins on butcher paper.  Inside our pumpkins we drew small circles for the toddlers to dot on.
