Sensory bags are so easy to make, and the kids love them! These bags are filled with purple gel and spiders to match our spider theme. To make it, you can fill any size sandwich baggie with hair gel then add food coloring and squish it all around. Next, add items of your choice such as glitter, confetti, or small objects. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there. You can make sensory bags with many different materials. The children were introduced to the San Diego Zoo for Kids website today while studying the Giant Panda of China. There are videos, photos and animal cams that allows the students to watch some of the animals at the zoo live. Click the photo below to be directed to their website.
So what’s the deal with children using their finger to track the words while they read? Because our eyes naturally follow movement, placing a finger, on a page and strategically moving it down the text, a reader will naturally keep their place and be more focused. This helps readers concentrate and understand what they read making reading a more satisfying experience. We used our magic reading fingers today during our very first reading group. The kids did a wonderful job!
