We will be introduced to two new word families this week.-it, and -ot. Today we focused on the -it family as we buddied up and read our -it family books in pairs. The Paired Reading strategy encourages peer teaching and learning. Students are divided into pairs and take turns reading aloud to each other. Reading with a buddy encourages students to try reading materials that may be just above their normal reading level. Paired Reading can also be used to build oral skills so that reluctant readers can work toward reading more confidently in front of a small group. Because the students have been so successful this year with their reading progress, this is a strategy that we will be able to incorporate on a more regular basis during small groups.
Here is an EASY and FUN way to work on those fine motor skills with your preschooler at home!
The Early 3’s explored ice and what makes it melt! We placed 3 ice cubes in 3 different bowls of water- hot, cold, and salt water. The children made predictions about what kind of water would melt the ice quicker. Then they observed to find out. They found that in this instance, hot water melted the ice the fastest!
The early 3’s had fun making circles on white boards and erasing them with paper towels! This was a great way to practice making circles over and over again! We are currently exploring our writing tools and are going to be moving towards a correct writing grip in the coming weeks!
Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
